How to Find the Right Designer in 2022

When you’re embarking on the journey to design your brand — whether you’re looking for someone to help you with your brand identity or you’re looking for a team to design an incredible website — there’s one thing that’s more important than anything else: finding the right designer.

However, finding a designer for your brand can be really hard! The internet and social media are both full of options, and a scroll down any website you love can instantly give you designer envy. We get it. But, we’re also big believers that there are some really easy and effective ways to find the *right* designer for your needs and your brands.

You ready? Let’s dive in.

1) Do your research.

There are tons and tons of options for finding the right designer for your brand, which is why it’s so, so important to do your research… and to do a lot of it. Here are the questions you should be able to answer for yourself before you find the right designer for your brand:

  • Who is your target market?
  • What is your biggest goal with your new designs?
  • What kind of style and vibe do you want to emulate with your brand design?
  • What are some examples of branding and design that you like?
  • What are some examples of branding and design that you *don’t* like?

Now, gather allllll of that research, compile it in a Google Doc and/or a notepad, and keep it on hand as you start looking! When you pair that with designer-centric research like pricing research and customer reviews, you’ve hit the jackpot.

2) Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

You wouldn’t hire someone to work with you without asking them questions — and it should be the same for any designer you hire, too. Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you possibly can, from questions about the designer’s process all the way to timelines and feedback and everything in between. Honestly, the more questions, the better! It’s how you find out if your potential designer is the right fit for you, and it’s also how you find out if you’re the right fit for your potential designer.

3) Don’t settle.

More importantly than anything else, trust the journey when you’re finding the right designer. Not every designer is going to be right for you and your brand, which means there’s a pretty decent chance that the first one you find isn’t going to be, either. Your job? To never, ever settle. You will find the right one… we promise!
